Remember the children, children.

Hello MySpacers

Back in ‘98 Kindercore released our first Xmas compilation (Christmas in Stereo) which featured songs by The Olivia Tremor Control, Of Montreal and tons of others. Well that one sold out so we made a second one (Christmas 2) in 2000 that had songs by tons of other killer groups… and that one sold out.

So… last fall we released XMAS 3: The War on Christmas in a limited edition of 100 copies packaged with a comic book and sold out the run in a couple of days.

I just found 50 copies of the CD that were left over so we are offering those copies for sale this year with a bonus - everyone who orders the XMAS 3 CD will also be entered in a random drawing to win a copy of the long out of print Christmas in Stereo and Christmas 2 CDs.*

Also in keeping with the fact that the original version of XMAS 3 was a benefit for Oxfam, $2 from the sale of each of these CDs will be used to buy toys for kids who would otherwise go without at the Athens Boys and Girls Club.

Of course you can still buy the digital version (including the comic book) from iTunes

the Greatest Toy EVER!!!!

as a child of the 80’s i had many loves. from the heavy hitters: Star Wars, He Man, Transformers, to the forgotten: Mask, Lone Star, Guts….but no toy had a bigger place in my pre-tits and ass obsessed mind than GI Joe. and seriously what’s not to love? you have a top secret organization that’s job is to combat world wide terror in the form of Cobra (probably something the government might wanna think about investing in now). you had everything that made the 80’s great involved…post-Vietnam cold war politics, villains who looked cooler than the good guys (a trait stolen from Star Wars), code names, i.d. cards, a cartoon and comic book that both kicked ass, and a healthy dose of ninjas. also you had some of the most rad vehicles and playsets that have ever existed. some of my all time favorites would have to be the Rolling Thunder, the Snow Cat, the Cobra Rattler, and most of all the U.S.S. Flag…the largest and most expensive of all GI Joe toys. whoever owned one was the envy of all his friends. and why wouldn’t they be. it was fucking huge. you could fit like 2 jets, a few helicopters, and over 30 guys on the thing. many a night i dreamed about it. i plotted entire scenarios of the missions that my Joes would undertake once i got the Flag

…unfortunately my parents were cheap assholes and never bought it for me, which is pretty typical for me. i was the kid who got a Sega Master System for Christmas the year everyone else got a Nintendo, or i got Photon instead of Lazer Tag…the basic nickel and dime shit that drives a child with ocd completely fucking insane and then parents wonder years later why he can’t save any money and is always buying shit he can’t afford….if you just bought me the USS Flag my life would have turned out completely different. so any of my friends who are making babies better keep that shit in mind, buy them overpriced toys they are obsessed with or they’ll end up like me. and now you know, and knowing is the half the battle.

Athens…what happened to you?

so it’s official. Athens is no longer a relevant music town.

there were less than or somewhere near 100 people at the 40 watt last Friday to see No Age (the only cool band who has actually played at the 40 Watt in the last several months). they weren’t playing in Atlanta and it was a Friday night. there was nothing going on in town. and it was not a home football game.

seriously, what the fuck gives? and of the people at the show, most of them were around my age. no kids at all…or hardly at all. i blame the hope scholarship for making UGA a harder and more competitive school to get into that has caused the students who do go to Georgia to be better students and thereby less cool when it comes to the bands they listen to and the shit they do with their free time. it’s sad. when i was 18 or 19 i would have killed to live in a town that had an awesome music scene and got bands i actually liked to play at their local clubs…but instead of killing, i just moved to Athens and now only about a decade later it’s pretty much dead. i never thought i’d live to see the day where Atlanta was more relevant to the music world than Athens.

i’m ashamed of you.

oh yeah No Age was rad btw….and so was the opening band…but i already forgot their name. i’d write a review of the show, but i was too depressed to the turnout to bother.

The dawning of a new era

This video pretty much sums up how I feel after Obama’s epic victory last night! The Bush era has ended, now make with the dancing teddy bear aliens:

Did That Really Just Happen?

We are the champions

i woke up this morning half expecting last night to have been a dream. thank god it wasn’t.

so far the Southern states have yet to secede from the Union and the terrorists haven’t nuked us…so i gotta count those as positives.

i’ve never been prouder to be an American as i am right now. what an amazing night. i wish i had something more elequent to say to sum up how i feel…but really i just think this fucking rules and i can’t wait till January.

okay…so enough political shit on the Kindercoreblog. let’s write about porn and music and fantasy football and the things that really matter
